For three days this week, Furano is hosting the Heiwa Matsuri, or Peace Festival. Every year, Furano holds this festival to remember the roughly 200 Furano residents who died in World War II.

Each day, there are stalls set up on Hondori St. (same street as Shinya, Haruchan Sushi, Karin Ramen, Topical Sushi, and the obvious Comu Comu pachinko parlor downtown), where you can eat Japanese festival food and play games.

On the second day, there will be a parade, featuring marching bands from all of the schools in the area. The parade will start from Furano Elementary School(across from Furano Shrine), turn after Marche, turn again near the station, and make a final turn after Hondori Street, ending back at the school.

Dates = June 14, 15, and 16
Time = Roughly 9:30 - 21:30

Parade = June 15, starting at 13:15

See you there!
