Snow at the Resort--Ropeway Closed!
Snow covered the top half of the Furano Ski Resort this morning, an exciting seasonal milestone for the skiers and riders, and another sure sign that winter is on its way. Also, today was the final day for the Ropeway to operate for the Fall leaf viewing. The Ropeway was actually scheduled to run today, but ironically because of the snow they shut it down one day early. A good omen for snow lovers.
The resort is scheduled to open about the 3rd week in November, weather depending of course. However, Furano is consistently one of the earliest opening mountains in Japan, and late November sees lots of ski teams and instructor certification seminars happening on the mountain in preparation for the coming season.
